Some times User data in various categories, user saved cities, and Astrologer (Name,
End Page and Addresses) needs to be imported to package running in some other system
so that the useful work performed at one system can be imported to package running
over the other system. The Export/Import facility is like the same in the other
software packages where you can exchange data over multiple applications. Here,
we have the option of importing data through text files.
How it Works ?
When any table data is exported to a text file, it displays the tag marking the
valid Leo Gold exported text file in the very first line as /* TableName*/. Then
in the next line you can view fieldlist under the tag /*FieldList*/. After this
line name of category in case of category table, city name in case of city table,
or model code in case of model master, Astrologer Code in case of Astrologer Master
exists within the delimiter. Below this line, you can see the data values in the
same sequence as the fieldlist.
Thus, every "Leo Gold" exported file has a default name starting with "Leo Gold".
The software can recognize the validity of the file using its tag. Thus, a valid
exported file should have specified format as described above. A file can be imported
only when it has the requisite setting. A user can add or modify the existing details
from the exported file so that new or modified data is imported the next time.
Advantages.
Export/Import option provides a good way to look at your data and correct them at
a place and then import them overwriting all previous records. This will enable
them to get the accurate and new data in the existing package.
You can carry the exported and subsequently modified file, if there is a need to
change them, to another system where "Leo Gold" is installed. You can transfer this
file using the E-Mail facility, if you have one. Then, this file can be imported
there. Thus, new category, new model, new astrologer or new city saved with one
package can be copied to package running over another system.
The option for Export/Import is provided at the "Setup" menu in the main screen.
You can select Export/Import User Data from its submenu. By Default, when the screen
for Export/Import comes up, it displays Export Option for Category as shown below:—

Importing Category
Now, the exported text file can be copied and sent to another machine where "Leo
Gold" is installed. Here, we can use the Import facility to retrieve the Horoscope
data back at some other machine running "Leo Gold". Figure below shows the Import
screen for Category :—
Exporting Category
List of categories displays all the categories whose data you can select for exporting
to a text file. Along with the categories listed you can also view Number of data
items in the category. You can either select full or partial list to export. The
text file which is going to be created is shown with the full path. You can browse
to the other location or type the full path with the name of the file you want to
export to. Then there is an advanced option which displays the name of the data
item or field to include in the exported file. Beside this we can also choose only
the latest version records to be exported. On pressing the Export button, you can
get the text file at the specified location filled with category data.

By Default, it displays the categories from text file at a location where "Leo Gold"
is installed. Alternatively, you can browse to some other location where valid Leo
Gold Exported Text File is present. As soon as you select the file name it displays
all the categories whose data is there in the file. User can either select all the
exported categories or some of them using the Select-Deselect button. Clicking on
Import button, imports all the selected category from the text file to the package.
Before importing, it asks for following options to perform with the data item to
be imported :—
1. OverWrite All. This will overwrite all the previous occurrences of same record
without prompting any more.
2. OverWrite This. This will overwrite the current occurrence of same record prompting
for each next occurrence of same record.
3. Add All. This will add data to the category for each next record without prompting
any more.
4. Add This. This will add current occurrence of data to the category prompting
for each next occurrence of data not found in the current category.
5. Skip. This will skip the current record from the file. The message will be shown
again.
6. Cancel. This will skip all the occurrences of data in the text file.
Advanced Option.
The Advance option button displays the Data item or field whose data values need
to be extracted from the file. You can select some or all according to your choice.
Then, there is an option for default category called "NewData" to be created when
the text file mentions no specific category where data can be imported.
This case arises when a user intentionally removes category name from text file
so that user at the other end can save it to the category name of his choice. The
default name "NewData" can be changed before importing.
User can prepare a record by record reference of Importing in a separate Log file
for category called "LeoData.log". This is useful when a particular category or
data item could not be imported due to some reason or the other which can be corrected
by looking at the Log File. This file is also created at a location where "Leo Gold"
is installed. You can De Select the option to make a log file each time a category
is imported. Latitude/Longitude option is there when we do not specify or the latitude
/ longitude field is left blank in the exported text file. There are three ways
to retrieve the value for the latitude/longitude. These are :—
1. Get Automatically. Latitude/Longitude value for a city can be retrieved from
the city master automatically.
2. Specify. Here, user must specify in the exported file at the specified location
the correct value for Latitude/Longitude otherwise it will skip.
3. Intervention Required. User can specify Latitude/Longitude value at the prompt
which comes up for each city where it is left blank.
Export/Import Astrologer Master.
Similarly, you can export other files such as Astrologer file which contains
the End Page text. This file is created with .doc extension and can be modified
in MS Word. You can create your own file with the specified format which a valid
Leo Gold Exported Document File for Astrologer takes and based on that a new file
can be created and then imported.
Export/Import User Defined Cities.
When you click for city option in Export screen, you can see all the User Defined
Models in the list. You can export all of them to a text file (with .txt extension
) at the default directory shown. You can open this text file in notepad and you
can modify the data therein. You can also add some new cities if you like. After
you are through with it you can import cities to some new location or in the package
from where you have exported the file.
Export/Import User Defined Model.
Like cities you can also export user defined models in a text file and then go on
importing this file at another location after copying it there. You can modify or
add some new entries in the similar pattern if you like.
